HOUSING TYPE — PERMANENT SUPPORTIVE

HBG provided their proprietary prefab steel modules for the design, fabrication and construction of this five-story, multifamily apartment building. Designated as Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) in the City of Los Angeles, the project provides fully ADA-compliant housing for the transitional homeless population in Los Angeles. 84 dwelling units with floor-to-ceiling glass surround an inner courtyard and the rooftop garden/deck combined create outdoor zones for lounging and socializing. On the forefront of modular innovation, HBG collaborated with developer Hope Street Development Group/KTGY to bring this project to reality. Currently under construction with a completion date of June 2020, Hope on Alvarado will provide much-needed PSH for numerous people experiencing chronic homelessness in Los Angeles.

HBG Rises To The Homeless Challenge

The Los Angeles Housing Service Authority (LAHSA)’s June 2019 homeless count reports that nearly 60,000 men, women, children, and veterans don’t have a home to sleep in tonight.

The United Way of Los Angeles states that nearly $5 billion in civic funding over the next ten years will be enough to build permanent supportive housing for nearly every one of our homeless neighbors.

Community Impact

Hope on Alvarado (HOA) fulfills LA Mayor Eric Garcetti’s mandate, “…homes are the cure to get people off of the street…homes are the cure for homelessness is a real solution today, not a good idea or theory or hypothetical for tomorrow.” In an expedited timeframe, real Angelenos currently living in a tent on the streets will soon have a real place to live, bathe, sleep and get a chance to re-group and re-insert themselves as contributing and productive members of our City. HOA is to be built within 11 to 12 months. Construction is well along and the prefabricated factory-built units have been delivered to the site and craned into place. This project provides on-site housing placement and a service provider which will manage the daily operations, security and maintenance of the building.
